013 – Translating Motion Maps

Sorry for the delay…

I started by sharing a sample problem of how to go from a motion map to all of the other representations.  (x-t, v-t, equations, word description).  Then students were assigned one problem (as a class) and they spent the rest of the day working through the different representations.  They also had to answer some questions concerning the position of the object and the speed or velocity.  It turns out this is a very good way of preparing them for their quiz tomorrow.  (Although they don’t realize it, and it would have been nice to present whiteboards or solve 2 problems.)

Sample Problem.  Motion Map where the horizontal number line shows the position of the object at each new second.

I also did an introduction to the v-t graph which is the first time that they have seen this representation.
